NEW BLOG AND SITE

Dear readers, whom I've neglected for some long months. I'm in the process of changing the scope of my artistic vision. For now, my site looks not too unlike the familiar face of karenhagen.com. Look for some more dramatic changes in the coming months, along with all new all different work.

Love,
Eero (the artist formerly known as Karen Hagen)

One of the great relationships of human existence has been the timeless waltz of mankind and the sea. This relationship and dance was no doubt born out of man's need for exploration and adventure with our planet earth's largest arena.  Man has traveled it in search of foreign lands, hunted it for resources and gotten lost in its vast unknowns.  Regardless of the time period or situation the sea has provided and has continued to fascinate its seekers. Throughout these interactions the artist has been close at hand.  Acting as witness, documenter, megaphone and author to these timeless endeavors.

In July 2010, in America's birthplace of Philadelphia, 30 emerging young artist of diverse skill sets have enlisted their services in riding the waves of discovery in effort to provide new additions of pictures to provide visual dialogs of mankind's fascination with the sea.

The Importance of Being Earnest, With Line.

Back to drawing croquis, eh? Yes, back to drawing croquis. For twenty minutes. Every morning. With the cunning use of timed photo slides. It's the warm up that my partner-in-crime Reau, uses to clear his head every morning. It's great practice, and allows you to forget about the finished project and focus on becoming confident with each line.

Gulf Oil

The Gulf Oil Disaster has reached day 44. I took a little time (1.5hrs) to paint about it, because I can't quite find the words to describe how very concerned I am about the sheer scope of the damage done.

Dapper Adam and the Grizzly

Listen to this proposal: "Karen, would you be willing to paint me with a monocle, in front of a fireplace, with a grizzly that is also wearing a monocle?" Ummm, yes! Boy, do I love zany job proposals.

Because You Have Lived

I made some changes to the website, including a photoblog of my camera musings and nostalgic photos. I'm still fidgeting with karenhagen.com, but feel free to poke around. Other projects include a website for my gallery project, The Anchor Collection, and my graphic novel. More paintings / drawings are on their way, folks. Hold your horses.
